A green house garden is an incredibly popular hobby that has seen a continuous growth for quite a while. A green house garden is exactly like gardening out in the open, with only a little alteration because of the glass which is surrounding the gardening area. There are six main reasons why people opt for a green house garden.

They are used for raising plants for winter use, holding over garden plants to be used as parent plants for another season, getting an early start for tender plants which are started from seed, increasing the possibilities of a greater and more continuous supply, easier culture of small vegetables for use in winter, and to propagate and experiment with various plants as either a hobby or in order to develop new varieties.

Choosing a Site for Your Green House Garden

Choosing the right site for your green house garden needs is an important factor and you must remember to choose a level and clean site which is in a relatively low-traffic area. You should also consider putting it in a location where lots of sunlight will be received, especially during the winter months.

Some factors to consider which can help you in deciding on the right site for your greenhouse are: the change in the angle of the sun between summer and winter and the shadows that are cast by existing structures. Existing deciduous trees will allow for winter sun while evergreens will not.

You should also note that aligning your greenhouse with the long side facing south will be beneficial for two reasons: that the angle of the roof is engineered for catching the absolute maximum amount of the sun’s rays, and that if you end up using shade cloth during the warm days in spring and summer, you will need to then shade only one side, rather than both sides simultaneously.

Light is of course absolutely essential for any greenhouse, and the most important time for sun to reach any greenhouse is during the spring and fall when the sun is lowest in the southern sky. Also, the interior of your greenhouse should be sure to give you ample room for tasks such as potting plants and to move about comfortably.

Temperature is another issue which must be considered, as the more sun that is provided, the more heat the greenhouse itself will then produce. This is important, as the temperature should be constantly regulated properly.
